LOCAL ALES FROM BISHOP NICK

We are delighted to add to our permanent line-up two local ales  from the Bishop Nick Brewery, based in Braintree.

RIDLEY’S RITE

Pale Ale 3.6%

GOLD Champion Beer of East Anglia (Bitters) 2019 & 2020

CHAMPION BEER OF BRITAIN 2017 – SILVER Supreme Champion

The Ridley family knows what Essex wants when it comes to good, honest session beer, so get your taste buds around this classic beauty. English Fuggles and Goldings do a sterling job of balancing crystal and pale ale malts, working their hops off for a floral aroma and a satisfying bitterness that is subtle but, like us, in it for the long haul.

HERESY

Golden Ale (4%)

GOLD winner – Champion Beers of East Anglia 2018 (Golden Ales)

We are talking about uncompromising refreshment here. Bishop Nick was executed a heretic because he wouldn’t renounce his faith, so we’re not compromising either. Heresy is the holy grail of golden ale. Top-notch pale ale malt and Challenger hops commit the brew to spicy bitterness before Goldings set about delivering citrus and florals. This is resolute refreshment.

Saturday’s Sparkle

Everyone needs a bit of sparkle in their Saturday, so we are offering 1 x bottle of prosecco for just £12.00.  Come and join us and enjoythe bubbles

GOOD BEER GUIDE 2023

Vince and Leon of The Maypole Thaxted are delighted to announce that they have been named one of the best in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2023.

Vince says “The quality and taste of our cask ales is so important to us, and we take great pride in getting it right. It is so rewarding to us to have it recognised by CAMRA”.

The Maypole Thaxted has been included in the 50th edition of CAMRA’s prestigious Good Beer Guide 2023, considered the definitive beer drinker’s guide to the very best pubs in the country. Just 4,500 out of the nation’s 50,000 pubs are listed in the Guide, all of which undergo a rigorous selection process by local CAMRA volunteers to seek out and promote the finest outlets for real ale across the UK.

Nik Antona, CAMRA National Chairman adds: “This continues to be an incredibly difficult time for the pub industry as a cost of goods and living crisis follows hot on the heels of a two-year pandemic. Huge congratulations are in order for all the pubs listed in the Guide, which exemplify the very highest standards across the UK.

The Good Beer Guide 2023 is now available from the CAMRA shop at https://shop.camra.org.uk/product/the-good-beer-guide-2023/
